Beer Pong is an ancient game of warriors practiced throught the old world from the beer pong marshes of Germany to the monolithic kegger pong stadiums of Rome. While fresh beer has remained a central presence in the competition the related paraphernalia has evolved significantly. Early swamp beer pong excavations reveal mumified cow eyes used as pong balls and the hollow skulls of past victories for cups. The Marquis de Sade was known for rollicking sets of bidet pong while the Scottish clansmen known for keeping an extra beer pong ball under their kilts became known as the Three-Nut-Skateers. Modern beer pong championship leagues have largely been relegated to secret undre-sea gymnasiums or sleazy inner city beer pongatoriums but beer pong may still be encountered in the wild in remote areas of New Jersey and Australia. - Sports Slogan Apparel by Remix Athletics |

A group of Spanish scientists claim to have singled out a protein that can extend the life of visual memory significantly. When the production of the protein was boosted in mice, the rodents’ visual memory retention increased, from about an hour to almost 2 months.

RGS-14: Will you remember what this protein looks like 2 months from now?Unlike the long-term memory creation that was imaged recently, this memory extension only applies to memories made through the poorly-understood visual cortex of the brain. The scientists first removed from mice the portion of the brain believed to be associated with visual memories–layer six of the V2 region–and showed that the mice could no longer remember any object they saw. They then increased the production of a group of proteins–RGS-14–created in that cortex. The mice’s retention of visual images was increased almost 1,500 times. - Discount Laptops for Sale |

Either I’m cheap or smart, but whatever the case I never buy it.clipped from i.gizmodo.com
Here you see a movie ticket and kernel popcorn, as scaled to their price increase over the past 80 years. On your left, 1929. On your right, 2009. In 1929, The Great Depression popularized popcorn as a movie time treat since it was cheap, easy, tasty and somewhat filling. Back then, a bag cost you 5 cents. Now, a (small) bag costs you $4.75. Sure, our new bag is probably a bit bigger, but it’s vastly more expensive. adjusted for inflation, popcorn prices* have seen an ironic 666% price increase, while movie ticket prices have increased a more moderate 66%. The above picture tells the story to scale, but just in case you’re a bigger fan of numbers: 1929
Movie – $4.32 ($0.35 pre-inflation)
Popcorn – $0.62 ($0.05 pre-inflation)2009
Movie – $7.20
Popcorn – $4.75Hollywood takes a majority of ticket proceeds (we’re talking upwards of 70%) during the first few weeks a film is released. So theaters fall back to popcorn, soda and candy to make money - Top 10 Everything of 2008 -”Time” |

Gauche the Cellist [1/7]
Here you go then, the full movie. For aspiring cellists everywhere…play with courage!Subtitled in English.
Gauche is based on a story by Kenji MIYAZAWA, one of the most-loved poet/storytellers in Japan (Miyazaki and Takahata love his works, and have been influenced by him). The movie was made as an independent project by a Japanese animation studio, OH Production, and took 6 years to complete. It is rather difficult to make a Kenji story into a movie because there are many Japanese just waiting to rip you apart if you screw up, but Gauche has been highly acclaimed, and is considered one of the best Miyazawa movies. The story is about a cellist, Gauche, who becomes a better cellist by interacting with animals who visit his home every night.

“Fascism should rightly be called corporatism as it is a merger of state and corporate power–Benito Mussolini “Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. To destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day.”
